Technology of the Future

Its kind of overwhelming to think of what the technology might be 50 years from now. Right now in 2010 we have so many different programs and applications I'm scared to imagine what could come next.

One thing though that I was thinking about was Bluetooth. Right now we have hands free ear pieces. However, it seems to me from observing other kinds of technology and advances that 50 years from now we might have an embedded Bluetooth tool. I know that sounds kind of weird, but think about it. People are already embedding chips into animals so they can find them if they're ever lost. Who's to say embedded Bluetooth isn't next? If mobile is the new thing, then why not have an embedded Bluetooth?

Now, what I mean by embedded Bluetooth is this:

Remember those toothbrushes that came out a few years back where you can hear music through the waves while you brush your teeth? Thats what I imagine the Bluetooth device being like. Doesn't that make sense? I think it does.

Review of New Technology

We've only been going for half the day and already I have learned so much! I don't even know where to start, and can hardly pick my favorite!
TuxMath was really cool. I can really see that motivating students of all ages! My niece hates learning her multiplication and division tables, but after introducing TuxMath to her she will probably soon know more than I do.
Voki  was really amazing. I was kind of skeptical when they first started talking about avatars, I was unsure how effective an avatar could be in the classroom. After learning what Voki is and finding out more about it I now see so many ways an avatar can be useful!
With Voki teachers have the power to bring to life subject matter that was previously "dead" to the students. Hearing a cute moose or penguin talk about photosynthesis is way more interesting than hearing a normal lecture, in my opinion. Of course, when I introduce this site to the teachers I won't necessarily put it in those specific words.
The information introduced this week constantly amazes me. I had no idea all these cool resources and ideas were out there just waiting to be used. I can't wait to find out more!

Day 2

It is now the end of Training: Day 2. Things went well today. A lot of information was presented to me, but inturn I learned a lot as well. Althought I was already familiar with MovieMaker and have created projects on it before, I still learned a lot of different things about it to improve my next project.
A lot of questions about the teacher visits and observations were answered today. I feel more comfortable with my duties as an intern now than I did when I arrived this morning.
I'm going to work on speaking out more and making my thoughts and opinions heard. I was successful, in being heard, during the MovieMaker project. As a group we worked together to make the final project good.
All in all, today was a very productive and important day. Yes, there were challenges. Things did not always go smoothly or like we might want them to go, but as a whole the day was still very efficient.
I'm looking forward to what is in store for tomorrow!

My Reflections

Hola!

Training went well today. I learned so much and I really can't wait to share all that I'm learning with teachers. There are so many useful tools out there, its exciting to know I have the opportunity to help make their lives a little easier.

I really really liked Google Docs. Having the documents and presentations online will make life much simpler. Not only can someone edit the document from anywhere they have an internet connection, but they don't have to worry about saving it to a specific device in order to transport it to another computer. I don't see why more teachers don't use this in their classrooms!

I also enjoyed learning how to use Google Earth.
Having Paris, France or London, England at  my finger tips is so fascinating! I think this is an awesome tool teachers can use in their classroom!

I'm looking forward to day 2 of training. There is still so much to learn!
